Call to Worship*
One: Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence?
Many: The Spirit is here to comfort us, not judge us.
One: If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
Many: And we are never out of reach of God’s consoling presence.
One: If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea,
even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.
Many: For the Lord seeks to lift us up, not pull us down.
One: If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,”
Many: even the darkness will not be dark; the night will shine like the day and darkness will become like light.
One: And in light of the Light, may we join together in worship.
Opening Hymn* “O God, by Your Mercy, We Come to This Place ” Handout
Words by Carolyn Winfrey Gillette; Tune: St. Denio; Arranged by Caniadau y Cyssegr, 1839.

1) O God, by your mercy we come to this place.
We feast at your table on gifts of your grace.
We taste your forgiveness, then learn what to do:
“Do justice, love kindness, walk humbly” with you.
2) O Christ, we’re not strangers or enemies here.
For we’re at your table, and you’ve made it clear:
We all are God’s children, and blessed from above,
we’re global, connected, and shaped by your love.
3) Lord, we look around and see hate everywhere.
Yet, you’ve shown us grace! It’s a gift we’re to share.
May we share this grace till your blessings increase
through justice and dialogue, kindness and peace.
4) Through missions and meetings where justice is shown,
through co-ops where farmers learn they’re not alone,
through YAVs who are willing to try something new,
God, make us good partners in working with you.
5) O Spirit, we pray that you’ll move through the church,
till peace, love and unity cover the earth.
O God, bless these gifts with your grace from above,
till others find joy in the feast of your love.
Scripture Reading Luke 10:25-37
Through these words, may we hear the word of God.
