2)  In the pain and joy beholding how your grace is still unfolding,

    give us all your vision, God of love. Refrain

3)  Give us strength to love each other, every sister, every brother;

    Spirit of all kindness, be our guide. Refrain

4)  You who know each thought and feeling, teach us all your way of healing;

    Spirit of compassion, fill each heart. Refrain

Scripture Reading Luke 24:46-52

Sermon         “The Power of Waiting”            Dr. Keith Ray

Theme:  In a world that celebrates busyness, instant gratification, and full schedules, Jesus’ instructions to his followers to wait may offer a corrective or an affirmation regarding our own balance in our lives (and in the life of our church).  Waiting can be a source of clarity and strength.  How are you with waiting?  Let’s talk about it on Sunday morning!  Shalom to you.

        Shalom, my friends, Shalom, my friends, Shalom, Shalom.

We will begin the following schedule for Sunday services, weather permitting:

  • 2nd and 4th Sundays will be at the outdoor stage in the woods. (Also 5th Sundays if applicable.)

HOWEVER, due to meeting at South Main on May 28.  We will be outdoors on May 21.

The Worship Committee is made up of Sharon Fowler, Laurie Gentry and Karen Manley.  They meet regularly to make sure all parts of each service are in place and discuss special events that arise.  Each of them is responsible for certain months to secure guest ministers.  Their months are as follows: May/June - Sharon, July/ August - Laurie, September/October - Karen, November/ December - Sharon.  If you have questions or concerns about the worship services, please talk to Sharon, Laurie or Karen.

This a final reminder that Saturday will be our Garden Party Day at NACCP.  We are recruiting as many “interested parties” as possible to help us with gardening at 4200 Liberty Highway.  We have lots of different types of gardens and will arrange a “good fit” for anyone who will join us.  If you have a favorite garden tool (or tools) bring it (them).  If you have no garden tools and do not know anything about gardening, we will provide tools and instruction.

Cynthia will arrive early (by 7:30) because she likes to work during the cooler part of the day.  If you prefer to begin work later, we will be happy to see you whenever you arrive!  Sharon promises pizza for all who are around at noon.

Are you interested in becoming a member of NACCP?  Would you like to make this community your spiritual home?  Please contact Keith at or at 864-508-1530.

If you are interested in a class on Advanced Directives and/or the “Stop the Bleed” program, let Barb Barham know so that she and Rosie Thompson can plan accordingly for future programming.

Undie Sundays has a couple more weeks to collect socks, men’s underwear (great need for size small men’s underwear) and women’s underwear and bras of all sizes for South Main Chapel and Mercy Center.  Bring your items by May 28 when we have service and serve lunch at South Main.

South Main is currently experiencing a bottled water shortage. Donations are appreciated.

They are asking folks to donate $40 in honor of the 40th anniversary of Martin Luther King Day being signed into legislation as a national holiday.
