Call to Worship
Leader: On this day of wind and flame, we gather together—expectant, open, and ready.
People: We are here, waiting for the Spirit to move among us.
Leader: Like the first disciples, we may be unsure, afraid, or overwhelmed.
People: But the Spirit comes to strengthen, comfort, and guide us.
Leader: The Sacred Voice speaks through every language, every people, every moment.
People: We open our ears and our hearts to listen and respond.
Leader: Come, Holy Spirit—breathe on us.
People: Fill our hearts, stir our voices, and set our lives on fire with love.
All: Let us worship together—Spirit-led and Spirit-filled!
Opening Hymn “Pentecost Had Come” Handout

1) Pentecost had come and in that time of grace,
Jesus’ friends were gathered in a meeting place.
Suddenly the Spirit came in wind and flame,
Sending men and women out in Jesus’ name.
Spirit, come upon us, too! Give us gifts to share for you.
We live in a world in need; Send us where you daily lead!
2) All around the city joy was in the air;
People gathered in the streets from everywhere.
Soon they heard some preaching and the news was good!
There, in every language, they all understood.
Spirit, move through every land till all know and understand:
Jesus died and rose — it’s true! Now we have new life in you.
3) Peter told the crowd to turn and be baptized;
thousands heard the words he spoke and changed their lives.
Daily they sold what they owned to help the poor;
Day by day the church was growing more and more.
Spirit, change the way we live. Teach us how to gladly give.
Guide us, as we seek to be Faithful in our ministry.
Scripture Lesson Acts 2:1-21
Sermon “I Believe in the Holy Spirit???” Dr. Keith Ray
Thoughts to ponder: Today’s text invites us to reflect on the surprising, disruptive, and deeply inclusive power of the Holy Spirit as revealed at Pentecost. God speaks through unexpected people in unexpected ways—turning fear into courage, silence into proclamation, and ordinary acts into sacred witness. Let us consider how the
Spirit is still at work today—speaking through our voices, our lives, our witnesses.
How might the Spirit transform our daily lives?

Prayers of the People
Closing Hymn “Breathe on Me, Breath of God” Hymnal #286
1) Breathe on me, Breath of God; fill me with life anew,
that I may love what thou dost love, and do what thou wouldst do.
2) Breathe on me, Breath of God, until my heart is pure,
until with thee I will one will, to do and to endure.
3) Breathe on me, Breath of God, till I am wholly thine,
until this earthly part of me glows with thy fire divine.
4) Breathe on me, Breath of God, so shall I never die,
but live with thee the perfect life of thine eternity.

Doug Booth encourages everyone to volunteer at PAWS – there is something for everyone, from socializing with the dogs on-site to taking a dog to lunch to hosting weekend visits. There are many dogs at the facility who crave human interaction. Additionally, don’t forget to bring in any donations of blankets to the church.
