Call to Worship

To see the life that teems around us,

To give thanks for the gift we have received;

To notice the beauty of the earth,

To breathe deeply of the season;

To accept the gift of love, and to love in return:

This is to worship God.

Let us  join our voices together in praise.

Opening Hymn “For the Beauty of the Earth”            Hymnal #14

1)  For the beauty of the earth, for the glory of the skies,

for the love which from our birth over and around us lies:

Refrain:  Lord of all, to thee we raise this our hymn of grateful praise.

2)  For the wonder of each hour of the day and of the night,

hill and vale, and tree and flower, sun and moon, and stars of light:    Refrain

3)  For the joy of ear and eye, for the heart and mind’s delight,

for the mystic harmony linking sense to sound and sight:        Refrain

4)  For the joy of human love, brother, sister, parent, child,

friends on earth, and friends above, for all gentle thoughts and mild:   Refrain

5)  For thyself, best gift divine to the world so freely given;

for that great, great love of thine, peace on earth and joy in heaven.     Refrain

Scripture   Matthew 13:31-33, 44-52

Sermon        “Giving Up the Big Lie” Dr. Keith Ray

Theme:  Jesus gives us insight into what really matters as he offers parables

about “the kingdom of heaven.”  What do you think really matters?

Have you ever thought you knew only to discover the truth was a lie?

Let’s talk about it!

Prayers of the People

Closing Hymn/Offertory     “Though I May Speak - The Gift of Love”   Hymnal #693

1)  Though I may speak with bravest fire, and have the gift to all inspire,

and have not love, my words are vain, as sounding brass, and hopeless gain.

2)  Though I may give all I possess, and striving so my love profess,

but not be given by love within, the profit soon turns strangely thin.

3)  Come, Spirit, come, our hearts control; our spirits long to be made whole.

Let inward love guide every deed; by this we worship, and are freed.

A TV monitor will be set up inside the sanctuary to display the Facebook Live stream on Sundays when the service is conducted at the outdoor stage. Given this change, we will be eliminating the 107.1 FM radio broadcast.

Food donations continue to be needed for AIM (Anderson Interfaith Ministries). They are especially in need of peanut butter and jelly but don’t forget to keep re-filling our basket designated for the AIM pantry to cover all of their needed items.
