Gathering Music                                          Polly Dunford

Welcome and Announcements       Vicki Conrad-Wright

Land Acknowledgment

Opening Hymn    “This Is My Song”          Hymnal #340

1)  This is my song, O God of all the nations,

a song of peace for lands afar and mine.

This is my home, the country where my heart is;

here are my hopes, my dreams, my holy shrine;

but other hearts in other lands are beating

with hopes and dreams as true and high as mine.

2)  My country’s skies are bluer than the ocean,

and sunlight beams on cloverleaf and pine.

But other lands have sunlight too, and clover,

and skies are everywhere as blue as mine.

So hear my song, O God of all the nations,

a song of peace for their land and for mine.

Alternating Scripture Reading                   Luke 6:17f     (Prophetically revised)

Jesus came down with the twelve apostles and stood on a level place, with a great crowd of his disciples and a great multitude of people.

Then he looked up at them and said:

Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God.

And blessed are the immigrants who have no documentation but are good citizens and not criminals.

Blessed are you who are hungry now,
for you will be filled.

And blessed are those who pick our crops and harvest our vegetables.

Blessed are you who weep now,
for you will laugh.

And blessed are those who labor in poultry farms and in dangerous meat packing plants for our meat diets.

Blessed are you when people hate you, and when they exclude you or revile you,

for that is what they did to the prophets before.

And blessed are those who are scared, gay, lesbian and transgender, and fear for their well-being.

But woe to you who are rich,
for you have received your consolation.

But blessed are those who clean your grand offices and condo buildings.

Woe to you who are full now,
for you will be hungry.

But blessed are those who wash the dishes after your banquets and work the night shifts in hospitals.

Woe to you who are laughing now,
for you will mourn and weep.

But blessed are the children who fear their parents will be taken away.

Woe to you when all speak well of you,

for that is how those in the past spoke of those who lied for political gain.

But blessed are those with the strength and courage to honor the dignity of every human being, to speak the truth in love, and to walk humbly with one another – for the good of all people, this nation and the world.

United Way sponsors a snack packing program for Anderson school children. Children in need are provided snacks for the weekend so they are able to learn when they return to school on Mondays. Snack packing consists of filling plastic bags with items and a handwritten word of encouragement before boxing the packs.  This is a fun event that we have done in the past as a group.  I have decided to sign up on Tuesdays as an individual because I think this is a very special program.

Current open dates are 3/3, 3/10.  These are Mondays or Tuesdays.  The shift is from 9-11 am.  If enough people are interested in working as a group, I will book us as a group.  If you are interested in trying it out, you can also sign up as an individual at  https://uwandsc.galaxydigital.com/need/detail/?need_id=1031432. You will need to set up an account and can then sign up any open date. If you are interested or have questions, please call Vicki Wright at 585-781-4620.

Doug Booth encourages everyone to volunteer at PAWS – there is something for everyone, from socializing with the dogs on-site to taking a dog to lunch to hosting weekend visits. There are many dogs at the facility who crave human interaction.  Additionally, don’t forget to bring in any donations of blankets to the church.
