Call to Worship
Leader: The Spirit of justice calls prophets, teachers, healers, and neighbors—
People: The Spirit of life calls us, here and now.
Leader: Some say, “I’m too young,” or “I’m too old,” or “I’m not enough.”
People: Yet the Voice of love whispers, “Do not be afraid—you are ready.”
Leader: In classrooms and hospitals, in protests and food pantries, in neighborhoods and homes—
People: The Breath of compassion stirs, urging us to love and to serve.
Leader: So come, bring your doubts and your hopes, your weariness and your wonder.
People: We come, ready to listen, ready to follow, ready to join in the work of renewal.
All: Let us worship the One who is Love, moving within us and among us still.
Opening Hymn “This Is My Commandment” Handout
By Jim and Jean Strathdee. 1994. Desert Flower Music. All rights reserved.
This is my commandment that you love one another that your joy may be full.
This is my commandment that you love one another that your joy may be full.
That your joy may be full, that your joy may be full.
This is my commandment that you love one another that your joy may be full.
Scripture Lesson Jeremiah 1:4-10
Sermon “The Called?” Dr. Keith Ray
Thoughts to Ponder: This Sunday we hear the story of Jeremiah’s reluctant call—and discover how that ancient hesitation sounds a lot like our own. “I’m too young. I’m too tired. I’m not enough.” Yet the Spirit of Love still stirs, calling people of every age and circumstance to speak truth, seek justice, and share compassion in the world. From classrooms to hospitals, protests to neighborhoods, God’s call is alive among us still. Join us as we listen for what it means to be called, even now.

Closing Hymn “You Shall Go Out with Joy” Hymnal #80
You shall go out with joy and be led forth with peace;
the mountains and the hills will break forth before you;
there’ll be shouts of joy, and all the trees of the field will clap,
will clap their hands.
And all the trees of the field will clap their hands;
the trees of the field will clap their hands;
the trees of the field will clap their hands while you go out with joy.
