Call to Worship   (adapted from Psalm 130)

Leader:  Out of the depths we cry to you, O Holy One.  God, hear our voices!  Let your ears be attentive to the voice of our supplications!

People:  If you, O God, should mark iniquities, who could stand?  But there is forgiveness with you, so that you may be revered.

Leader:  We wait for the Divine One; our soul waits, and in the Word we hope; our soul waits for the Holy One more than those who watch for the morning.

People:  O creation, hope in the Creator!  For with the Holy One there is steadfast love, and with God there is great power to redeem.

ALL: It is the Creator who will redeem creation from all brokenness.

Thoughts to Ponder:  It’s true; we all tend to flock together with those who are similar.  And yet, if we take seriously the movements of Jesus in and out of so-called “clean” and “unclean” places, we are challenged to rethink the communities where we live, work, and thrive.  It’s a topic that can be touchy, even for those of us who claim progressive ideals,

but let’s consider it together.

You may have noticed the new glass “tip jar” on the piano at church that serendipitously came about when someone didn’t claim a flower vase. Feel free to drop in a dollar or five when you like the music during the service. Dave and Polly will donate the “tips” to a cause related to music, such as bringing music to schools.

Women’s clothing is needed for women coming out of incarceration. Good, gently used items please. All sizes.

Doug Booth encourages everyone to volunteer at PAWS – there is something for everyone, from socializing with the dogs on-site to taking a dog to lunch to hosting weekend visits. There are many dogs at the facility who crave human interaction.  Additionally, don’t forget to bring in any donations of blankets to the church.

Joanne reminds us all to keep up the food donations for AIM (Anderson Interfaith Ministries)!  Bring your non-perishable items to the church.  This is an on-going need that can easily become part of everyone’s shopping routine.
