Call to Worship   (adapted from Psalm 92:1-4, 12-15)

Leader: It is good to give thanks to the Holy One, to sing praises to your name, O Most High,

People: To declare your steadfast love in the morning and your faithfulness by night,

Leader: To the music of the lute and the harp, to the melody of the lyre.

People: For you, O God, have made me glad by your work; at the works of your hands I sing for joy.

Leader: The righteous flourish like the palm tree and grow like a cedar in Lebanon.

People: They are planted in the house of the Holy One; they flourish in the courts of our God.

Leader: In old age they still produce fruit; they are always green and full of nectar,

All: Showing that the Divine One is upright; God is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in the Holy One.

Message       “Let it Be: Finding Peace in a Chaotic World” Dr. Keith Ray

Thoughts to Ponder (from theologian Wendy Farley): Jesus is calling us to a very different way of being with ourselves, with one another, with the divine, by asking us to recognize that spiritual growth and intimacy with God arises as naturally as seeds growing. The harvest will come without us having to work for it, because God adores us and it is this love that is the power of growth. It is this love that transforms the tiniest and most impotent-looking seed into a lush bush that gives rest and shade to the singing birds, just as it transforms our tiny, distorted awareness of God into a magnificent luminosity in which we ourselves and all the creatures we meet can rest.

You may have noticed the new glass “tip jar” on the piano at church that serendipitously came about when someone didn’t claim a flower vase. Feel free to drop in a dollar or five when you like the music during the service. Dave and Polly will donate the “tips” to a cause related to music, such as bringing music to schools.

Doug Booth encourages everyone to volunteer at PAWS – there is something for everyone, from socializing with the dogs on-site to taking a dog to lunch to hosting weekend visits. There are many dogs at the facility who crave human interaction.  Additionally, don’t forget to bring in any donations of blankets to the church.

Karen highlighted that the Prayer Tree has been moved into the sanctuary. If you have a prayer request to add to the tree, write it on one of the provided tags and hang it on a branch.

Joanne reminds us all to keep up the food donations for AIM (Anderson Interfaith Ministries)!  Bring your non-perishable items to the church.  This is an on-going need that can easily become part of everyone’s shopping routine.
